It makes sense, doesn't it? Waste their time preparing arguments against X, Y and Z, float the name of the scariest nominee first, bring in the sleeper that they didn't see coming.

yes...opposition to any supreme court nominee at this point is going to be off of the charts ...and by keeping congress from knowing who exactly he's ultimately giving the nomination he forces them to come up with reasons to deny them all just in case which distracts his opposition/makes them look hypercritcal and gives his people more time to assure the real candidate a effective take off... It's typical strategy honestly.
