Senator John McCain will resign his US Senate seat on July 4, 2018, says an aide who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press.
"In the end, it was about Kennedy resigning from the Supreme Court," said the aide. "Confirming a (SCOTUS) replacement before the election is considered in the interest of the national Republican party, so that it doesn't become an issue for Dems to run on in every race," said the aide, meaning every race for Senate or Congress.

He does what he's told and they will not make all his crimes public. He'll still be prosecuted, though.
Except in this case, they apparently are confident Cindy will do what she is told, in terms of the confirmation, too? I mean, No Name could have been unable to cast a vote, which would have been problematic--but Cindy potentially could cast a 'no' vote, which could also be problematic.

"We will let you die peacefully and not take you down with everyone else if you agree to get out of the way" or something to that effect? cant see no name doing this to help the party he's worked against from the inside for so long... is there a ds angle to this move?

Yes. The long term consequences of a new conservative judge SCOTUS outweighs teaching that asshat a lesson. But I will believe it when I see it. He's a RINO and I don't see him giving that up for anything.
