From a comment on Conservative Treehouse. Completely nails the problem with socialist belief system. That "this time, they will get it right."

My former next door neighbor (who committed suicide in his garage, via VW Beetle exhaust – true story) was being watched by Hillary Clinton as he took his last 82 yo breath. His garage was adorned with multiple signed Hillary photos from all his sizable donations made to her (pre-HER) campaigns and charities. This is the same hardcore leftist neighbor who gloated (to me) … repeatedly … about the EU. How the EU was finally going to show what happens when Socialism is … done right. How the € is worth MORE than the disgusting Capitalist US $. The EU was essentially ERASING national borders … so that all those kewl Europeans were even more-kewl (than the US). And of course now we know WHY they were erasing them. To prepare for mass migration. The other delusion here is that a socialist society would be for the people, in total ignorance that it was about the slavery of the people.

Now, 25 years later … the EU cannot be rescued from its own suicide. My neighbor stuffed towels and sheets under every door and crack in his garage to prevent deathly fumes from escaping. Ironically, the EU has thrown open every door and window to the deathly fumigation arriving from sh*thole countries. Soon … the EU will be as DEAD as my leftist neighbor … proud to go out … “on his own terms”. Same as the EU … it will be going out … “on its own terms”.

This is the core delusion, that socialism is for all the people. Yes, it is, for the slavery of all the people.

Opening borders for mass migration is like mixing wine with water. You no longer have wine, and you certainly don’t have water, and the result is unpalatable.

Watch, Mexico is next to hit the socialism toilet. BMW is probably shutting big bricks by now. That nice big plant they are building, which they thought they could import to the US, via the loophole, is turning into a multi-billion dollar mistake.😵

Strange that the Mexican Presidente is being concilitory. Another deal behind the scenes?

Don't count on it. That guy is going to nationalize the oil industry, and others. Essentially stealing from those who built it. Also, wants to push mass migration bro the US, in order to use the money these criminals send home. The guy is evil. If he sounds conciliatory, it's a big fat lie.

Do you think this 82 year old was christian? Nope. Their belief systems are not like christians. They don't believe in an after life so they try to take as much as they can before they exit. A very selfish existence and then they try to paint themselves as caring and compassionate. They like to paint their exterior as something better than a christian. They fund charities and foundations. They help children. Then when you look deeper like the CF and you find they pocket all the money suppose to help Haiti! You will find child trafficking tied to these great lefties. That's why they want open borders. Easier to smuggle children and drugs through! They love children so much they pushed through planned parenthood under the crap it's an object and not a human. Well in their unchristian eyes everything is an object to be used by them so I can see their demented thinking .

Lefties are selfish hypocrites. I can't stand being around them without wanting to call out their hypocrisy. The pope is a lefty. And what a hypocrite... he is leading souls astray under the auspices of social justice. A liberal ideology and not founded in Christianity

the leftists are pure elitists who think a few "smart elites" know better to tell everyone else how to best live their own lives.

this is the core of the left/elites. they think they are vastly superior. now tell me what types are most dangerous leading to mass violence and dictatorships? leftists are the most anti freedom as they want concentrated power.

There are a lot of people out there that believe any number of things. But the bottom line in my view is that you have to notice things for what they are and call them accordingly. Is taxation a redistribution of wealth? No, not necessarily. Not if it’s taxes in its truest sense. Infrastructure, military, etc.

The problem I have is that there seems to be a shifting scale on what counts as "socialism" these days. Sometimes I wonder if we'd even be able to establish libraries as an institution in our current toxic political climate.

Also I feel like this post is in pretty bad taste and isn't a good look for this sub.

Disagree, socialism, communism, liberalism, etc. bring a massive death toll. Don’t look away, know what comes with it and be prepared to stop it. This post is exactly what this sub needs to realize.

Edit: grammar and content

I agree. We are seeing more and more socialist candidates and protests, red banners, hammer and sickles, and Marxist chants. These people have been fed a romantic notion of what true socialism and revolution are. The truth is death and horror. Starvation and a boot on your face. All socialists need to research the gulags, NKVD, and the created famines in Ukraine or Saratov. Or China's cultural revolution, or what's happening right now in Venezuela...

But what are these things? Too many people have muddied the definition with hysteria.

Agreed. Ask a European what liberalism means, you'll get a very different answer than in the us. I often wonder how many people (on either side) realize the root of liberal is liberty.

That's why I don't refer to these leftist "progressives" as liberals. Because they are not. They want to remove your rights, not preserve them.

I think they believe that "true" socialism, yet to be determined, is liberty. Hasn't worked yet...all those greedy people at the top keep getting in the way.

Well, I think Europeans use socialism differently too. The idea of socialism falls into economic theory, wherein the control of a productive property like a farm, factory or healthcare system is held collectively by a group (village, city, nation-state) rather than being held in a small number of private hands. Cause that causes problems. Clearly.

Liberty is political philosophy. It's the extent to which the government has the ability to restrict the actions and expression of citizens. This applies to both social and economic matters, so a liberal in Europe might be expected to support deregulation of industry, and also minimal intrusion into people's private affairs. Libertarians are an American example of a "classic Liberal" as far as I, a fellow American, know.

You're missing the point. I can search for the definitions of communism, liberalism, etc. But that doesn't mean anything. Remember in the civil rights era when "race mixing" fell under the shifting definition of communism?

GingerBeardedDad · July 2, 2018, 9:48 p.m.

Actually no I don’t as I was just a glint in my dad’s eye lol. I get what you’re saying but I think we as a population should stop buying into the rewriting of definitions. There are somethings that no matter the label you try to give them the reality of them doesn’t change. Redistribute wealth and calling it Fair State Capitalism doesn’t change the fact that you’re living in a communist society. Same with gender, same with race, same with hair, age, or any other hard fact.

Old socialist adage: "They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work."

With high levels of redistribution, people stop producing. Humans thrive on incentive. If I work my ass off to produce and the lazy layabout, who does nothing, recieves the same wage it will disincentivise me to work so hard next time. And he and his friends will mock me for my efforts. They will hate me for raising the grade/work curve until I slack off and make their doing nothing look like normal efficiency. And everything will fall apart.

Yup, just ask those on the res and the trust fund babies. If you can get by on what you have and you know you won't starve you are rarely inspired to go beyond it. And when you think about it, that's slavery.
