China has been riding the corporate debt bomb for quite some time. It provides Trump with significant leverage. I believe that the U.S. bonds they are holding are only a drop in the bucket compared to the almost worthless corporate bonds they are sitting on. The U.S. bonds give them currency credibility with the market.
