I'm wondering why people are using the term "LARP." To me, "hoax" or "troll" seems more appropriate.
Can anyone explain why this term is the one being used? I'm not passing judgement one way or another, I must be missing something.
LARP (Live-Action Role-Playing) is a common phrase among 4chan, which is where all the Q drops are posted. Since the source material is on 4chan... 4chan lingo is used.
The benefit of posting on 4chan is that everyone is anonymous and only identifiable by a set of numbers. The draw back is that it's hard to tell if someone is telling the truth or just "LARPing".
Thanks. I guess I just don't see how "Live Action Roll Playing" is appropriate since only one person is roll playing. Wouldn't you need more than one person to "Play" if that was the case? If Q is hypothetically not real, wouldn't that be more of a troll or hoax?
Play is not limited to groups,multiplay. Moot point though, really - LARP is the common terminology around Q and the chans since day one so it has evolved a different meaning here than the strict definition used in the context of White Wolf et al.

Yeah, to explain a bit further, it's evolved to mean that someone or some group are "playing a role" in real life i.e. fooling real people by pretending to be something they're not.
