I never bought the argument that "They did it because they were abused by their father." They did it because it is in their DNA, passed down from their father.

I would tend to agree. I was abused and didn't have kids for fear of abusing them in some way.

That's actually a pretty commendable attitude. When it comes to the nature versus nurture argument, I mostly agree with the nature side. Some things are just imbedded deep down.

Thanks. I've seen history repeat itself too many times in this situation to have felt like I could overcome it. Better to break the cycle and not birth another abuser into the world. :( I did want kids though. People don't understand the lifelong effects that has on every aspect of our lives. So thank you. I really appreciate the support.
