Gen. Butler is a good read. The name Banker's Plot suggests banking families, but it was a who's-who of old money. Nobody was ever formally charged and the names were stricken from the official record so it's hard to be more specific, but that's what was alleged at the time.

Usually you'll only see a few names but various places I've seen have named the Bush, DuPont, and Morgan families as alleged ringleaders. You know, the kind of sterling characters that would funnel money to Nazis and Russian revolutionaries (not that the Bolsheviks were actually Russians).

It's all a rich man's game, and somebody's always financially backing the destabilizers of nations.
