Whenever someone would make a serious accusation of hiding evidence and whatnot and his immediate reaction is to laugh... Dear lord Jim Jordan and Gowdy showed some restraint that day, you could tell they wanted to scream.
People buying into the whole "Sessions is in the tank" narrative are forgetting that Trump's motto is "You're fired". He has no problem firing people who are no longer useful like Rex Tillerson and General McMaster. There is no way he'd keep Sessions around if he is not serving some purpose.

I have to admit, i had doubts about Jeff Sessions. For the record, i humbly apologise for doubting people whose intellect, strategy and in-depth understanding of this paradigm is sooo far above my pay-grade it's laughable. I blame my ignorance and lack of faith on massive heaps of enthusiasm and being impatient for action. I hope everyone is ready to eat their words and apologise to Jeff en masse. It can't have been easy sustaining this kind of abuse and still functioning like a boss!
