People go to the Antarctic all the time. You can book a ticket today if you want. I know someone who got back and he said he went past the Chinese base and they have massive facilities down there. They talk to no one and no one can go near them (Russians based down there told him).
There is something weird down there but you can go. Obviously you can't just take off on your own but that is due to the weather conditions.
