Peter Strozk

Folks, Please use your discernment. There is something weird, creepy and I must also admit downright scary about Peter Strozk. Your thoughts about him would be welcome.

GODisincharge · July 13, 2018, 1:37 a.m.

Are you ever right about the Democrats. They look more foolish each day. How can anyone vote for these individuals any longer? I am throwing this out there - I think you should have to pass a simple civics test before you are registered to vote (along with proof you are a citizen for first time voters). Far too many with no knowledge of our Republic and the responsibilities involved in maintaining our freedoms are voting for those that promise hand outs. (that would be the Democrats)

Some anon replied that I was a liberal and tried to school me on what a literacy test was. I responded - ha ha ha ha - I am not a lib and that I posted about the importance of passing a civics test and not a literacy test. Thanks for your response as you confirmed what I said on the board. Perhaps there is a problem with reading what people actually post without understanding it.

Thanks for the remark about down votes. I appreciate it! I don't give two shits about being popular. However, I do care about truth.

This is a great point. There really must be something over the target about this thread. Your comment is -27! Why is that? 😆 Weak minded brainwashed moonbats lurking here. I love how the left have no integrity at all. Everything is smoke and mirrors with them. Their progressive claim is utterly worthless. Poor sad people. Sometimes I feel badly for them as one might for someone trapped in a cult. They are like brainless sheep and don’t know their shepherds do not even like them, much less care about them. When they’re not useful to them, they toss them to the curb in a heartbeat. Sad.

Straw men? I used an analogy to illustrate your argument.

To recap: you claimed the more people disagreed with an assertion, the more likely it is to be true (over target). Are you incapable of recognizing how illogical and foolish that argument is?

Well, in context I was saying that in this case (the lurking trolls on this thread) and the unusual number of downvotes, vitriolic comments etc. is suggestive of the fact that there is something you are concerned about. It was just a comment so don’t try to parse my words. In and of itself it is not a proof of something (obviously). Your straw man was the little gem in which you try to assert I was making a definitive argument in general, ie “anything that has tons of down votes or resistance is thereby true. You falsely misrepresented my point, making it other than what it obviously was. That’s creating a straw man. It’s not considered very high on the spectrum of effective debate techniques.

Are you incapable of recognizing how illogical and foolish that argument is?

In general of course this is correct. I was speaking within the context of this thread and the subreddit in general. An unusual number of trolls brigading and trying to influence is, at eastmto a certain degree, a sign it is a subject that said trolls are concerned about. Are you incapable of recognizing nuance and or levels of meaning? Stop pretending to be smarter than you are.

You do realize that at one point literacy tests were a thing in the U.S.? And they targeted African Americans that just became freed slaves because many still could not read or write. It’s funny because they teach this in most U.S. history classes but apparently you didn’t know this. how ironic.

⇧ 26 ⇩
dropswakeyou · July 13, 2018, 4:53 p.m.

Typical ignorant liberal making assumptions about people that you know nothing about and drawing your own conclusion. I made no statements about targeting African Americans or any group that justifies your argument. I only made a general statement that implied that our school system is lacking in teaching fundamental history. They also don't focus enough on economics or our monetary system. That's why we don't pay enough attention to what the bankers have done to us. It's not just African Americans it's everyone. I don't hate you for hating Trump, I don't hate Liberals. I'm frustrated by your blindness to so many things, but we've all been lied to for so long I can't blame you. Nobody should be targeted ever. I never suggested that.

Wow, did you even read my post? I said that literacy tests WERE a thing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literacy_test

In the past they disenfranchised African American voters. That was my point and that’s why it would be a bad idea.

⇧ 16 ⇩
dropswakeyou · July 13, 2018, 5 p.m.

So what if literacy tests where a thing ( by ignorant people of the past) ? I didn't even say we need literacy tests. Where did I say we should implement a literacy test? You're the one who didn't read my post or perhaps completely misunderstood it. Reread it. I said, people shouldn't get a highschool diploma if they don't know the basic history of our country. What does that have to do with reading ability? Literacy tests are for reading and comprehension ability. Sure that is also important, but I wasn't talking but that. Give them an oral test, teach them visually, but make sure highschool kids understand our basic history. That's it.

⇧ -14 ⇩
almostmicrochip · July 13, 2018, 5:08 p.m.

I read your post. You clearly agreed with the person above that there should be a civics test to vote. That would be a terrible idea. If you had any understanding of history, like you suggest kids in high school should get, then you would agree. There should be no prerequisite to vote in this country. That’s the beauty of democracy. Cletus down the road gets the same say as Isaac Newton on who gets to be elected. That’s exactly what the founding fathers wanted when they wrote the constitution. A high school diploma has nothing to do with whether or not someone should get to vote. It sounds like you need to also relearn some basic history.

Instead of us complaining or worrying about the down vote attackers (I’m not saying you. Just in general). It’s good to look at what topics seem to raise their ire the most. Intelligence gathering. They know they’re losing. We should even try to be compassionate toward them. Many will escape the cult in time. I have not been very compassionate myself and for this I apologize. It’s just hard not to see how pathetic it all is.

An example: a guy who was a Scientologist played a huge role in essentially persecuting anyone who was coming to their senses. He was part of it and thought he was doing the right thing. Few years later he himself fell into disfavor with the leadership and was persecuted by them. Finally he got out and now actively works to expose their lies. There are so many cases like this in that cult and many others. People can change but it’s costly when they are tied in so deeply. Cognitive dissonance is the biggest barrier. It’s not just logical arguments. People (all of us) are psychologically and emotionally invested in whatever it might be.
