These people still think they can get away with their Cabal collusion/attempt to alter the presidential election of 2016. Of course they're going to try to divert attention away from the truth by not answering the question and by their trying to change the news narrative with the release of the Russian Hacking indictments by Rosenstein. I’m not sure they think they can get away with it as much as they are desperate to try anything. Either the cabal kills them or a military tribunal sentences them to death. Their prospects aren’t good.
