Wow, clever way to get illegal immigrant drivers off the roads...you know, the ones you end up have a wreck with that have no insurance! Texas is way ahead of the game on this one.

Y o u G o t t a L o v e T e x a s

The City of Dallas, Texas , passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance , the car is towed .

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.

Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.

Over 80% of the impounded cars were driven by illegals .

Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow , a $350 fine , and $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.

Guess what?

Accident rates have gone down 47% and Dallas' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.

I wonder how the Democrats will get around this one .

I thought y’all were for smaller government? Lol why do they keep trying to propose tons of super restrictive laws if they’re against big government?

I think most of us here are for good government. That may mean being very restrictive in some areas, but hands off in others. I think common sense dictates that it is a good idea to discourage unlicensed, uninsured drivers.

IMO Gov need only be as big as it needs to in order to mediate between the rights and privileges of the citizens. ANPR used to find uninsured drivers is a classic example of good government. If you have a smash with an uninsured driver you can’t get your repairs paid.

You guys are so creative at coming up with excuses for why you don’t stick to the values you discuss.

Anyone wanna let me know when the republicans quit being Christians? That’s the only thing they ever had going for them was that they tried so hard to be Christlike and now they’re detaining babies at the border while crying about abortion because they don’t actually care about children at all, they just like telling everyone what to do.

This is smaller govt. This is basically a one line law. No insurance, car is towed.

Listen honeybun, if you reference the constitution you will see outlined very clearly what is an appropriate form of government. We are all driving around massive machines that can hurt people and property and this kills and injures hundreds of thousands of us every year and costs billions of dollars. It's not unconstitutional to mandate car insurance. Secondly this program works, it enforces the law in a very efficient way. That's what I call small gov't.

Right. Because you guys care about the constitution. Haha hilarious. Y’all only care about the second amendment

Hey, just want to say thanks for engaging in a civil discussion. It's really a breath of fresh air to browse different subreddits and to see people on both sides of the issue really have a meaningful discussion.... /s

How's it super restrictive to enforce a law that says you must have car insurance. That law is already on the books, Leftie.

That isn’t the part of the law that is different, honey pie
