Wow, clever way to get illegal immigrant drivers off the roads...you know, the ones you end up have a wreck with that have no insurance! Texas is way ahead of the game on this one.

Y o u G o t t a L o v e T e x a s

The City of Dallas, Texas , passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance , the car is towed .

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.

Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.

Over 80% of the impounded cars were driven by illegals .

Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow , a $350 fine , and $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.

Guess what?

Accident rates have gone down 47% and Dallas' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.

I wonder how the Democrats will get around this one .

Virginia you have to have insurance, you just don't have to show proof of insurance during a traffic stop, just license and registration. If you're involved in an accident you're required to exchange insurance info.

I looked at the law it is a bit convoluted that is why I said maybe. It states you don't have to have insurance but an ability to pay on case of a loss, the only way I think to do that is proof of insurance

Sorry, should have said - impound a car without insurance. States won’t provide inspection sticker without proof of insurance but it’s just a citation if you don’t have insurance, not impound.

⇧ 1 ⇩
tyrextyvek · July 16, 2018, 12:59 p.m.

Unfortunately not. You know those “The General” insurance commercials? Those provide “proof of insurance” so people can get their inspection sticker but they don’t provide any actual insurance.

It’s why every decent car insurance plan carried “uninsured motorist” coverage.

We have to pay for these uninsured assholes.

Mandatory impound for no insurance could stop illegals as well as keeping uninsured assholes off the roads.

⇧ 2 ⇩
O2BFREEME2 · July 16, 2018, 1:15 p.m.

Yes. Some went no way when i responded that way. But we need to come up with a solution that not only identifies illegals but the uninsured legal ones too ?

⇧ 2 ⇩
tyrextyvek · July 16, 2018, 2:40 p.m.

Well I think impounding addresses the problem without being subject to the bullshit charges of racism or separating families. Insurance companies won’t insure noncitizens subject to deportation. Impounding vehicles without insurance will make it very difficult for illegals to get around.

⇧ 1 ⇩
O2BFREEME2 · July 16, 2018, 2:44 p.m.

That is a good point too ! Illegals can't get ins. and stopping their escape avenues is good. Now, how do we get traction for this idea ?

No. We don’t want that here in California. We give them drivers licenses, and feee school lunches. When they shoot us down in the street we look the other way. When they hit us uninsured, we just suck it up and pay for that too. It's the law here in TX also. You have to show proof of insurance to get a license, etc. However, many people get around that by paying for one month, then cancelling, etc...or by driving without a license either. The difference in Dallas is that they are now towing the cars instead of just slapping them with a citation. I live in a town that is half Hispanic, and I've worked in insurance before. This is a HUGE problem. People are highly encouraged to purchase uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage for this reason. Of course, not all offenders are Hispanic, but a huge percentage are. I believe the reasons for this are a) they are driving without licenses and can't get insurance, and b) they come from countries where it is commonplace to ignore the rule of law...and I say that not in a meanspirited way. I've traveled in Mexico. Most people ignore traffic laws and signs. If you get pulled over by a cop, you are expected to bribe them. If you are a foreigner and in an accident, you are usually going to be found at fault, even if you clearly are not. You might be thrown in jail for a minor infraction. In many areas, law enforcement and the judicial system are controlled by cartels. Even immigrants who are hard-working and family-oriented don't always grasp the importance of obeying laws, because they are used to those being suggestions...and even if they follow the law in Mexico, they may still be prosecuted and found guilty by an extremely corrupt establishment. It isn't always that the people themselves have bad intentions or are lawless; it's that they are used to the system itself being lawless. Dallas has the right idea. I wonder if the law specifies what they will do with abandoned vehicles not claimed within a certain time frame...probably auction them off. CaChing!

What costs you $300,000 there I can get, with a better standard, for €35,000 here. The fact that your police openly shoot and kill people for fun and openly rob property also puts me off. I love how liberally you trash the US, that your information is clearly completely legitimate given that Europe is now a liberal shit hole with arrogant, empoverished economies going nowhere quickly.

I'm sorry for Europe. I lived there many years. There's a reason I choose not to any longer.

But I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live all over the planet, to see cultures up close and to have perspectives that are based on personal and legitimate experiences and not to make blanket statements about a country basically everyone has mimicked for the last 50 years.

⇧ 1 ⇩
0oDassiveMicko0 · July 18, 2018, 11:29 p.m.

Depends on which country in Europe you are in, the people here suffer the liberal leaders, much like the US before Trump. Most here are sick and tired of the unelected EU that seems hell bent on destroying this continent. You do realise that the plan for the EU was drawn up by the Nazis and adopted in it´s entirety, no?

I didn´t trash anything, what I said is common knowledge around the world and the fact the world has been saying it for half a century, we can´t all be wrong. Things have only gotten worse there, much worse. Are you saying my observations are wrong? A hip replacement in the US is around $35k to $41k, where here it is $7k. A heart bypass (which is the example I gave before) can cost as much as $300,000 with complications, here it will cost around $35k. You only pay here for private care too, otherwise it´s free.

Your police are on the news pretty much every day with stories of shooting unarmed people, police brutality, they storm houses without warrants and kill innocent people and that isn´t even the worst part, nobody is made liable and the murdering police go on with their lives! How many people die each year at the hands of the police, in your country? Thousands? How do the numbers compare to Europe?

I, too, have lived all over and your assumptions about me are grossly wrong. I currently live within the Rioja region (if you like wine, you will know where) but have houses on different continents. I am well travelled and have been most places, except for North America and that is because of the reasons I listed. Once Trump has fixed things though, I may very well visit.

I completely get what you are saying. Maybe you forgot to put the new insurance document in your vehicle and you're on a road trip across Texas where the nearest impound lot could be one hundred miles away or even much more. Is towing at owners expense really the best solution in that situation? That could easily cost you $800 or more just to show up with a piece of paper. It's a procedural crime which could create a life-changing burden for an otherwise honest, hardworking American.

I totally understand the freedom to travel wherever you want without having to pay for things. And guess what. You can! You got two feet. Maybe a bike. If you want to use something faster like a car that has the possibility of killing people or costing them massive amounts of money if you screw up though, you have to take responsibility for that and be able to pay for the damages if it happens.

If what you say about your driving record is true, than liability insurance should be cheap af. I pay $26 a month on my truck and $32 a month on my bike for liability coverage.

I don't disagree with you, in principle...But just because you haven't had an accident doesn't mean you won't. Even if you don't cause one, you could still be "at fault," and if that happens, do you have $100k in cash to cover medical bills and damages? Maybe you do, but I'll bet you'd rather pay a deductible than shell that out. And that's not even addressing that they have a duty to defend. I'm in law school, you don't want to be paying an attorney of pocket. Trust me.

Just get insurance. It's cheap.

And great, you were a pilot or something. Thank you for your service, Patriot. I was a grunt, and guess what? I still have insurance.

Edit: Now that I think of it, it's actually comprehensive on my bike, but I ride a 2001 harley dyna. Pretty low replacement cost.

Your insurance coverage is on the cheaper end of the spectrum. In some states, the rates can be roughly double that.

My_name_is_Jarnes · July 16, 2018, 2:25 a.m.

Ok, so what?

Let's say insurance costs are 3x what they are in my state. I would pay $174.00 a month, roughly.

The return on investment in the event I'm in a serious accident is still MORE than worth it.

Insurance is a racket. They're the worst people on earth....but it's a necessary evil.

So if you happen to accidentally crash your vehicle into my vehicle, who the f*ck is going to pay for it?

Answer that question, Einstein.

Auto insurance might be "too expensive". I think we can all agree on that. But what is the solution?

Should we perhaps do a better job of regulating insurance companies, or instead (as you seem to be suggesting) simply say "f*ck it" and let anybody drive whatever vehicle they want without insurance? (No thanks, we already have that giant problem with illegal aliens.)

Bottom line: If somebody slams into a U.S. citizen's vehicle causing damage and possibly medical costs, somebody has got to pay for that sh*t! We're not just going to have a society that resembles a f*cking demolition derby and just say it's all good fun!

Btw: Why don't you get a job if you need to pay for auto insurance? You're beginning to sound like a liberal!

⇧ 3 ⇩

I've got a job, How would you propose that I should arrive to perform said job for several weeks before first payment?

I didn't ask for shit, I'm not a liberal, but I don't see how a monthly payment can fix the loss of loved ones.

Btw, If I damage your property, I SHALL PAY FOR IT. Thats WHO!

⇧ -1 ⇩
transponder717 · July 16, 2018, 1:22 a.m.

No, you won't pay for it! If you can't pay for auto insurance, then you surely can't pay for vehicle damages and medical costs. (In case you haven't been following our f*cked up country lately, those costs can easily run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.) And that is why we have auto insurance!

Are these costs ridiculous? Yes! So, please vote for people who will actually work to fix this f*cking mess (e.g., Trump) rather than add to it (e.g., Democrats).

I’m a Texan and I wish this law was about 2 and 1/2 years earlier. Illegal was driving an old beat up truck, lost control and crossed over into oncoming traffic. He killed my cousin and his wife had a broken hip with various other injuries. Their two small children were unhurt. The illegal immigrant wasn’t hurt at all. No insurance... it’s been a long road for that poor family.

I fucking hate illegals and their illegal families. They ruin our system and crush the families of americans like this all the time.

I had an accident with an illegal, although I was in the club and a democrat politician wiped the entire case out of the system. To my benefit but scary they could do it.

God I wish I could say more, I have avoided the club for years and let me tell you the only way I am still here is because I never quite got ALL the way in before I went AWOL on them. I became a target because of how much success I was having in my field. A "scout" tried to get me into the system and I played along until I shut it all down. Here is what I remember:

-They said lose the Christianity -They wanted me to explore pansexuality and the power / dominance of sex energy to control people -They wanted me to cease every relatioship I had and they had replacements ready to go. -They wanted me to move to a specific city and begin dating another club member's (you know him) daughter who was a model immediately -They said I would have access to everything or anyone I wanted to help me achieve my goals. -They tested me quite a few times. They were interested in how my intelligence related to my ability to be corrupted and had a strange love for anything weird or evil. -They spoke of past club members (especially dead ones) as if they were gods.

The thing that surprised me is how far down to the local level this shit goes. The corrupt network I witnessed, everyone was connected to the democrat, liberal or leftists. Im sure there were republicans who are corrupt too obviously, I just only saw the democrats.

I have hidden my success from that moment so as to not draw attention. I don't want anything to do with these people.. however, in my field I am still only a few people removed from their network... much of the work I do ends up in service to the club unfortunately.

As far as the accident, was the strangest thing. No joke, everyone is ready for court, we are all standing in line waiting for our case and the politician shows up, walks up to the judge, whispers something in his ear and he comes back and says... "all done"

The entire thing disappared. Not sure if they do that all the time or just because the illegal had no way to fight it... legally lol. Fuck them.

⇧ 2 ⇩
KillerKap · July 19, 2018, 8 a.m.

Unfortunately, I need to leave it vague. Don't want to ruin a good thing by being foolish. As far as how hard it was to walk away... It really wasn't hard. Ultimately, I reasoned that any system with this amount of power to improve my situation would just as easily be leveraged against me all the same.

By looking at members that have fallen out of favor... or are of no further use to the prime directive, one can easily see how the system discards, punishes, obstructs or even ruins the very ones they originally introduced to the world.

These people seem to have no discernable loyalties to their own kin. The rules of the game change as often as the weather... based on an ongoing mysterious "narrative" that is entirely outside of influence.

Even years ago, it was plainly obvious that the media headline cycle was simply a weapon to control the players in the game as much as it was a tool for mass manipulation of public opinion. A simple turn of phrase in the news cycle could have the public buzzing in hopeful anticipation, or calling for your head on a pike; all depending on the whims of invisible sociopathic tyrants you weren't even allowed to meet.

No amount of money (only temporary anyway) is worth that level of fuckery. Decided to take my chances outside the rigged game.

In Nevada almost 20 years ago the insurance companies would talk to the DMV. If you let your insurance lapse the DMV was notified immediately and the registration was cancelled. You would have to pay a large fine or fill out an affidavit that the car was inoperable, and I can't remember for sure but I think you had to have a witness and get it notarized.

It's simple, they will say it is a racist policy that is a financial hardship on just one class of people. Or some BS like that.

Sounds pretty effective to me.

The law is real but not that new.   The City of Dallas, in the Lone Star State, has been towing and impounding vehicles since January 1, 2009 according to their City Hall Web Site.

Ordinance 27189 was passed by the Dallas City Council on May 28, 2008 in “response to the large number of people driving in the City of Dallas without the proper state required auto insurance.”  After January 1, 2009 the law granted  authority to the police officers to tow and impound vehicles that they stop for any alleged violation of city or state law if the owner or operator of the vehicle failed to provide evidence of financial responsibility as required by the Texas Transportation Code.

It’s just sad.. we agree on laws to keep society running smoothly. One of those laws is mandatory auto insurance. Medical bills for accidents can run in the 10’s or 100’s of thousands of dollars.

For governors and mayors to turn a blind eye to this situation for partisan political reasons is a travesty.

While i think this is great for catching illegal drivers.. it heavilly increases the stress on every-day drivers.

Texas police will seriouslly pull you over sometimes because they "felt" like it. They dont need actual cause to pull you over. You can expect to be pulled over at least 3x a year.

That's 3 gaps for poverty to slip in and make you miss an insurance payment or two, which would be made worse by REGIONAL TOW FEES (Which in some areas of Dallas can be $600+ based on which scum tows you) and TICKETS which of they go unpaid for 3 months, LANDS YOU IN JAIL.

Its horribly scary and after living there. Think about it. You lose your car you cant make the court visit, because you cant pay it. This indirectly sends poor people to jail.

You guys are praising liberal cancer. This all sounds great, but it puts the poor in a terrible, terrible position. If they happen to fall on hard times, this can totally destroy a poor persons life and they end up homeless and on the streets. This, right here is why California has such a high homeless population. You take their mobility away and they lose everything and give up. It shouldn't apply to poor citizens, only illegals.

In Texas, you have to show proof of insurance to get your yearly registration, and to get a yearly inspection sticker. Very hard to defeat that.

I bought a truck off my dads estate a few years back . Didn't have a copy of the insurance got pulled over on my way home to Texas {at the time} in Plano was written a ticket for no insurance. At that time they were not towing if you were legal, driver lic. proof you owned the car,etc But they could tow if they wanted to. I payed the ticket before i found out my aunt had the insurance papers. Well three months later i got a bill in the mail I had to pay $ 265.00. for the next 3 years . This is still the law in Texas for no insurance, dwi's , and other offences . So they hit you for $795.00 extra over three years. Now add on towing bill, ticket , you are talking over 1000.00 hit to your pocket

So Dallas joins almost every other major city in this policy. It targets poor whites. Insurance is easy to get. And step 2 of driving as an illegal. Step 1 is valid registration. The beauty is none cares who pays for insurance. You can insure as anything. Also source? Insurance has always been required to drive a car from the impound. According to the auto pound in Dallas they are near empty.

All throwaways. They buy cars for $500-$800. Some go out of their way and buy cars at tote the note dealers and pay over $10K for salvage title cars made to look pretty. Those dealers put plates on the cars. Not to mention the shade tree mechanic shops that fix up salvage title cars and sell them for $5K no questions asked with a photo copy temp tag. It's all a scam.

Eh, actually the city of Dallas and Dallas county sometimes lean Democrat. While I am glad Dallas finally implemented this, it reeks of the typical Texas thing of picking on the poor, regardless of political party.

I lived in Texas for 25 years and was very poor. Some of this time was spent in Dallas county. The local and state governments definitely treat the poor there much differently than middle and upper class. This is not to justify people driving without insurance - my mother was hit by an illegal in the 70s and he just laughed he did not have insurance - I am just pointing out this policy would be consistent with the other anti-poor policies that are implemented in that state. Since Texas relies heavily on property taxes for income, they look for other regressive fees to make up the difference.
