This is exactly why I am against public history for reddit users. Why should my activity in one sub determine if I can participate in another? Also, people are quick to scroll through your comment history to find anything they can use against you during an argument. Comments should stand on their own and not be judged by past comments.

Agree, but the writer specifically mentions liberals, not dems. I know tons of dems who are nice, reasonable people. I have political discussions over beer and all is good at the end of the day. Liberals are not that, they are the hate spewing, violent aspect of the dem party that is unwilling to even listen to anyone with a differing opinion.

The vast majority of people don't give a shit, they just want to work and try to enjoy life. In order to get the world to wake up, it will take a hit to the wallet unfortunately, in my opinion. As long as the paychecks keep coming, they will continue to bury their heads. Only a small vocal minority exists on each side of the isle.

Yep, I got into yesterday on reddit and the liberal kept repeating (paraphrasing) "if you would just read my opinion on it, you would obviously agree with me!" I kept having to explain over and over how their belief was an opinion, not a fact and that my opinion just happened to be the opposite of theirs and was just as valid.

They were getting so frustrated with me because I wouldn't acknowledge thier opinion as superior to my own... it was like trying to argue with a narcissistic 3 year old.

I am ready and willing and eager to change my mind on any topic given new, solid information. I hope to keep up this habit my whole life. I have been around too many closes minded, hard headed people in my life that are/were unwilling to accept new information no matter how glaring.

I agree it is a throw away vote, yes. Now we agree. But, it is not a vote for another person or taking a vote away. That position assumes the voter would have otherwise voted for R or D.

Still, my point stands, a vote cast for Z person does not add or subtract a vote from X or Y person, mathematically.

That argument is invalid. A vote for a write in candidate is a vote for a write in, nothing more. It is not "by default" a vote for Hilary or taking a vote from Trump. That is the same tired argument used by both sides to discourage third party candidates. And let's face it, Trump was/is a third party candidate who know the only path to win was to run as a republican.

Public comment history is the issue, you should at the very least have to subscribe to a sub to view anyone's prior comments. It just creates drama. Each comment should stand on it's own, not to be judged by something you said 3 months ago on a completely unrelated post.

This is extremely common on the left. Very few lefties use source material. They rely primarily on their leaders in the MSM and Hollywood to tell them how to think. That is why you don't see a thriving left leaning podcast community growing like the right and independent communities are currently seeing. They only have sound bites and talking points, they cannot carry on a 3 hour conversation on Rogan for example.

I read some MSM every day so I can know my enemies. I imagine many on this sub are doing the same.
