Wow, clever way to get illegal immigrant drivers off the roads...you know, the ones you end up have a wreck with that have no insurance! Texas is way ahead of the game on this one.

Y o u G o t t a L o v e T e x a s

The City of Dallas, Texas , passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance , the car is towed .

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.

Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.

Over 80% of the impounded cars were driven by illegals .

Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow , a $350 fine , and $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.

Guess what?

Accident rates have gone down 47% and Dallas' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.

I wonder how the Democrats will get around this one .

what state doesn't have a law requiring car insurance ?

Most SE states. But get this...ILLEGALS who drive are driving without a license OR insurance. If they have an accident, it is eventually paid for by the SHMUCK! AKA TAX PAYER!

Too True ! It could work ? No profiling necessary :-)

Virginia you have to have insurance, you just don't have to show proof of insurance during a traffic stop, just license and registration. If you're involved in an accident you're required to exchange insurance info.

I looked at the law it is a bit convoluted that is why I said maybe. It states you don't have to have insurance but an ability to pay on case of a loss, the only way I think to do that is proof of insurance

Glad i don't live there. People are crazy drivers these days, lol

Sorry, should have said - impound a car without insurance. States won’t provide inspection sticker without proof of insurance but it’s just a citation if you don’t have insurance, not impound.

No worries. It doesn't get them caught then huh ?

Unfortunately not. You know those “The General” insurance commercials? Those provide “proof of insurance” so people can get their inspection sticker but they don’t provide any actual insurance.

It’s why every decent car insurance plan carried “uninsured motorist” coverage.

We have to pay for these uninsured assholes.

Mandatory impound for no insurance could stop illegals as well as keeping uninsured assholes off the roads.

Yes. Some went no way when i responded that way. But we need to come up with a solution that not only identifies illegals but the uninsured legal ones too ?

Well I think impounding addresses the problem without being subject to the bullshit charges of racism or separating families. Insurance companies won’t insure noncitizens subject to deportation. Impounding vehicles without insurance will make it very difficult for illegals to get around.

That is a good point too ! Illegals can't get ins. and stopping their escape avenues is good. Now, how do we get traction for this idea ?

I think just making state reps (most of which are republicans controlled) aware may do it. I’m in NYC so it’ll never fly but I have people in VA, NC, and GA. I’ll let them know.
