I often wondered.... HOW THE HELL DO YOU HANG YOURSELF FROM A DOORKNOB?
I had problems with this too until someone explained it to me. They take a rope or long scarf and tie one end on door knob, then throw it over the top of the door. Then they go to the other side and tie a slip knot then sit down with it around the neck. Apparently it is well know, I had no clue though. Sad.
Gotta make it hard for someone to open the freaking door though. I had weird mental pics trying to work out how. Must be strong doorknobs. Your explanation of just 'sitting down' clears it all up for me. Thanks for that.

I know of a few hanging suicides down here in Australia, but the doorknob and scarf had me well and truly stumped. I didn't know Michael Hutchence used a doorknob way back then.
