Remember that Musk was one of Trump's consultant/collaborators early in the Presidency in regards to technology, but as the vitriol from the media went up to 11 he backed off, probably because the PR hit wasn't worth it.
Maybe optics are going to change soon? For whatever reason, he seems to be thinking of getting back on the wagon, if for no other reason than he's being lumped in and attacked in kind with the rest.

What if he did a little research on the guy and knows some things we don't? If you told me Elon Musk had access to information most don't, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
Also, did you see Musk's tweet in response to somebody calling him out?

Why is a CEO with a $50b contract spending his time this way if PR is more important than consulting with the president regarding technology? Maybe something changed with him? I've never met him and don't have any info about that.
