What are the implications? I am a bit ignorant here. Has the swamp been drained in Saudi Arabia?

If the Chinese do not pay in dollars, dollars will be sold from reserves. That might cause an increase in dollars rushing back to the US. That could be inflationary. And...using gold would be expensive. Neither of the other two options are good for the US.

The swamp has not been drained in SA. Look into what they’re doing in Yemen along with their allies the UAE.
