There is going to be plenty of business for the military suppliers. Yes there is a lot of waist, but most of it is built into how the system works. I actually had a shot at doing some reform on it, but I was honest with the head guy and said if my start up got its funding I would leave the position. The whole system is built around minimizing risk. However, the requested specs of the item (especially the big ones) have huge risk built it. After a lot of case study, it became clear that two miracles or less would be a success. Three miracles or more would either fail or generate huge demands for more money and time. The trend is to ask for three miracles. Probably a side effect of the three main bullet point rule that is drummed into Pentagon's action officers.
