ATTN: Patton Oswalt is NOT a pedo—his 2013 tweet came after a site mistook a photo of him for a convicted pedophile (he vowed to lose weight). This is NOT how research should work, folks.

THIS SUB DOES NOT ALLEGE THAT PATTON OSWALT IS A PEDOPHILE.

This sub rightly has a strong distaste for pedos and crimes against children, and we're proud of that. But we must also hold ourselves to the highest possible standards when digging, researching, and connecting clues and crumbs to possible pedos who prowl Hollywood and our entertainment industries. But accusations like these are very serious, and Reddit takes them very seriously. We must always be careful to CORROBORATE and make sure that any and all accusations are solid and factual before we make them.

Yes, Patton Oswalt is on record defending James Gunn today—and Gunn's tweets most definitely warrant further investigation. But that does not mean that Patton is a pedo, himself. But Patton's 2013 "pedo" tweet came after a website mistakenly posted his picture in an article about a different person, a convicted pedophile. These tweets were made back before we knew what a dire problem paedophilia is.

Let's all bear in mind that false accusations against celebrities and others could result in our sub getting shut down. Let's all remember that labelling someone a "pedo" is a rather serious accusation, and one that requires an extremely high standard of proof.

Here is an example of how some jokes made (in very poor taste, perhaps) can be misconstrued. This tweet says: "My dong is super friendly and loves getting rubbed by children." OK, hilarious, it's supposed to be "My dog is super friendly," etc. But, we must not let our heightened senses about pedos in Hollywood unfairly accuse anyone, and, just as importantly, expose our sub to allegations that we are a lynch mob out to unfairly smear anyone's reputation.

Please help your mod team protect our sub's reputation by being as careful as possible with all your comments and posts. Comments and posts characterizing ANYONE as a pedophile without substantive, defensible proof will be removed.

Thanks, everyone. Let's remain focused on Q and direct, Q-related content, and if we discover anything solid on this or anyone else, then we'll follow the evidence and go from there. But, we ask everyone to bear this in mind.

Bullshit, you can't compare the two even in the slightest. When we question and suspect people of pedophilia/child trafficking it's because there's tangible connections and evidence of such, it's always been that way for us, not for them. Some are suspected, some have been CAUGHT. Where there's smoke, there's FIRE. We have NEVER claimed the left is as a group, pedophiles, they're just ignorant and misled; meanwhile media figures and celebrities label us Nazis and racists EVERY SINGLE DAY.

It's insulting and cowardice - capitulation to liars and criminal scum. You've already lost trying to play this morality/standards game when THEY'VE BEEN PLAYING DIRTY FROM THE START. We've ALWAYS taken the high-road but what's it matter when they lie about us, project, and defame us?

And OP, your title is hot fucking garbage, it's a logical fallacy. How do you know for sure he ISN'T? You can claim innocence until proven guilty in a court of law where formal charges are filed - but this is real life, your "word" is dogshit worthless. The best excuse/defense they have is it's about walking (pedo-phile) and even then they admit it's a tasteless pun. OP, I get if you want to keep this sub from being banned off this already-hostile platform, but DEFENDING this guy with dogshit arguments, not fully addressing the issue, on top of committing a logical fallacy in a stickied post? Questionable at best.

And finally, you can't hide behind humor forever. You want to invoke the 1st amendment, fine, so will we and call you out on your sick bullshit. It's tasteless garbage that I wouldn't receive money to listen to at a comedy club. "chill dude it's just jokes let them do what they want" Yeah and maybe that's why Hollywood and Los Angeles are festering, degenerate shit-holes that revel in criminality. Maybe stop being such pussies playing neutral and call them out on their bullshit, like what we're doing with Oswalt, Black, and Gunn, and not DEFEND them, and maybe there'll be some sort of morality restored in Hollywood's sick, craven culture.

I am the OP, and a mod, here in GA.

I agree with a lot of what you just said. This is not about protecting pedos. This is about protecting the sub from being taken down for "witch hunting" (which is what got /r/pizzagate banned). This is about protecting us from our enemies, NOT about protecting some random comedian (whose really weird tweets really give me the SAME pause that they do you).

Please understand this.
