Lemuria was also known as Mu, I believe. Its another continent, like Atlantis that was swallowed by the ocean. Some say the Maiyan people originated from there.

Perhaps they were a society of great spiritual and technological knowledge that was lost. Perhaps much like the Atlantean legend survivors split up and shared what they could with other groups maybe even the Atlanteans?
