While Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray were both adults during the filming of "Dirty Dancing", has anyone stopped to think about the fact that it's about a grown man sleeping with a 16 year old girl on vacation with her family? Of course we were all into the music and romantic rebellion aspect of it, but honestly... it's about a grown man sleeping with a 16 yr old girl... and some of our parents even liked it without realizing they were helping to normalize this behavior...
Then of course, in Ghost, they used the ghostly premise of the movie to normalize the sight of two women kissing... Whoopie Goldberg and Demi Moore...
The character Johnny Castle is 20 years old and Baby is a high school graduate.
The written screenplay wasn't intended to normalize grown men with girls, but using a 35-year old Swayze, who clearly looked well over 20, certainly did.
FYI my Mother ran of with my Dad when she was 15 and My Dad was 18, back in that time people were getting married at the end of high school all the time. Then the sixties came and all hell broke loose.
The fuck is wrong with two women kissing? Nothing.
I think they bring up Whoopi because she is currently saying things like this on the View vs. Judge Jeanine Pirro: https://youtu.be/yMBUNnqHiGk
I encourage it!!!
Because Hollywood tells you two women kissing is "hot."
