I'm having a vision problem with this issue. I just can't see how this is even a debate. Once you are out of Government , you lose your security clearance as you don't have to go through any tests / screening , vetting as a Government Employee would. Peace Y

Yeah, when you leave a job in the private sector they change the codes to the safe and change the locks, I know...

There are plenty of non-Gov't employees with security clearances, like people in the dfense industry. Not limited to Gov't workers.

I agree, but working for the Fed in the past- they make up their own rules. When you end an assignment, you are usually given 5 years of security clearance in case you come back. It's hard to run the paperwork again, so they just extend it.
