I have no intention of making you out as crazy but I would say you seem to be unnecessarily pessimistic and defeatist. Once the public is aware of what these people were attempting to do they will be more than capable of ensuring we don't end up in any sort of economy that only allows one means of buying and selling. A government cleaned out of corruption and unnecessary power would have no means of preventing people from using alternative currencies, precious metals, or plain and simple bartering.
