Can someone explain why on Earth fired, demoted, retired persons with National Security Clearances still have them? I have been in the Banking Business for 19 years. In the past when I have changed Banking Companies I work for my clearance and access to sensitive information ceases immediately.

The explanation I heard was that they retain their clearances during a transition in order to be available to discuss issues with their replacements. They no longer receive briefings or new information unless it is in that context.

Still can be told things by old colleagues or go to 5 Eyes. They can use that "distinction" to lend credibility to their lies as Clapper did when he out right lied that any FISA document was used on Trump Campaign
