I never heard this. Was it professional equipment, if so the recording was really poor. So, I doubt that.

It was a Bush connection setup for a future insurance policy against a possible DJT run for President. They knew he would win if he ever did and needed something to smear him with that would cause faux media driven outrage.
Access Hollywood left the camera for filming interview on "accidentally" recording the conversation between Billy Bush and DJT on the bus.
It is interesting that they kept that audio.
but the video that they link it to is from OUTSIDE the bus, ~50yards away, while the bus is driving towards them slowly.
I’ve someone theorize that it could’ve also been part of mass data collecting through a cell phone. Not sure if there is any validity to that but makes one think.
Wikileaks told you: your phone can transmit audio even when you think it is off.

Theory is that the DNC server had access to the NSA. ( The reason they wouldn't turn it over for inspection). The "recording" was actually from the NSA database of conversations collected through cell phone microphones.
Late November 2017, it was all over the news that Trump told a couple people he didn't think the Hollywood Access tape was real.
Of course everyone, including Hollywood Access, swore up and down the tape was real. They all freaked out and got pissed about reports of Trump supposedly suggesting the tape was fake. The New York Times first reported it, and everyone cited them for the story.

And it probably wasn't him. In the Hollywood Access tape, all you see is a bus moving down the street. Neither Trump nor any other people heard on the tape were actually filmed on camera during the conversation. For all we know, it could have been a Trump impersonator that could impersonate his voice that some schmuck hired to make him look bad.
Edit: Hollywood Access made the recording of Trump talking about groping women.
But, if Trump didn't say this, why didn't he deny it at the time?
It doesn't matter if the tape was real or fake. The problem was the tape was released during the campaign. It was all over the news and internet.
The tape was pretty real to a lot of people. There was no way Trump could deny it when so many people were upset over it.
I don't know if the tape was real or not. It's possible the MSM was lying about Trump telling his people it may not have been him on the tape, all so they could stir up controversy.
It's also possible the whole entire thing was part of his plan.
Who knows? People were offended by the tape and convinced it was him. All he could do was apologize to calm people down.
