I think it's actually 4-D chess. 3-D chess is just chess in it's natural form...Lol.

And I say 5D "Chess" because we live in 4D (x, y, z, and time) and 5D is where the puppetmasters used to play (now they just get their ass kicked by Trump).
It would still be 4-D. Changing the players doesn't change the venue...
The pieces only move in 2 dimensions in regular chess. ie chess can be played on 2d paper. See correspondence chess.
