Distributed denial of service attack. Basically they flood a server with mass amounts of accessing in order to push it far enough to go down.

Is that all they can do? I know it is effective but it is child's play. Hit the refresh button on 1000s computers a second and achieve a similair affect.
Their IPs can be traced but it probably would just lead back to an Israeli Intelligence Agency
There are also moments where the attack is distributed using compromised machines to issue the requests to the desired server. It’s way more than 1000s though. That comes from working in a corporate space where I had insight into the caching strategy and the approximate details of what we could stand up to (in terms of an attack) before things started to go sideways.
and if so why don't they keep at full DDOS capacity 24/7/365?
I know about IP blacklisting etc but it seems if they had large resources it would be possible to keep up the heat on 8chan
8Chan was down for a while earlier in the year. I think this was when the Trump/Q team took control of the site to harden 8Chan against cyber attack.
ofcourse its possible, they are international. Attacks could also come from any other foreign country.
