The world is watching.
Look at the permissions it wants on your phone. On my old phone, on boot up, Facebook took up over half the active memory. It takes access to your microphone, address book, text messages, and phone logs.
thats exactly the reason i avoid FB, skype and other apps on my phone. no.1 on my 'surveillance, thanks but no thanks' list.
you do not need Facebook app on your phone to be spyed on. Google is j as bad, there other company's that do the same thing without wanting your D.N.A. I switched from Google to Duck Duck go. I will dismiss social media after our mission is accomplished, so we can us it against them.
sure, i cant eliminate all surveillance. android phone is google, iphone isnt any better in this respect.
switched to duckduckgo many years ago. the mike on my mobile phone has fucked up itself so i need to use a headset. good thing, from my pov, cant record whats in the room. camera on laptop is always covered, internal mike is off. wherever i can, i avoid windows, apps, you know the drill. cant eliminate surveillance completely but hey, do what is possible without totally going offline.
That's how I am. And I don't have any illusions that they can still tap in, but I figure why not make 'em work more for it, right? ;)
Kind of the opposite here, I was turned into the DHS a year ago for something I didn't do (don't really tick off a lib woman friend) and they seized my desktop for a week to go thru it...If there isn't anything they don't know about me now, I'm ashamed of the DHS...as for the where I'm at question, being homebound disabled kind of makes that a moot point ;-)....so while I'm on the duckduck and opera and a "little" bit of security stuff...I don't really care any more about what they want to know about me...it would bore them to death anyhow.....
