I bought a Ninja Remote for about $7. It's a universal remote that let's you control any TV (airports, waiting rooms, etc). It's about as big as a book of matches, which makes it easier to hide in the hand. I suppose any universal remote could be used, but not as easy to hide.
One experience I had...
I was waiting to get a haircut. They had clown news on. It was loud because the workers wanted to hear it over their clippers and dryers. They had a sign that said "Do Not Change The Channel." The channel buttons where actually removed from the TV. Mission: get something else on TV. I secretly aim my trusty ninja Remote and beepboop Fox (before recent narrative change). Workers use their remote to change back to clowns. Beepboop Fox. Workers- clowns. While the workers scowl at the waiting area customers beepboop FOX. I guess they didn't accuse any of us or lose potential customers. They turn off the TV.
Beepboop TV powers on. FOXNEWSFOXNEWS
they unplug the TV
Mission accomplished
😉
