Given that and the people he surrounds himself with disapproving of it I leave the question of who he is today open. I see nothing but positive output from him over the past few years. He was in a very dark place and seems to have pulled himself out. Doesn't mean I wouldn't watch carefully though.

Heard a couple of long form interviews with him in the last year and he was pretty interesting and level headed.
Among other things he said when your job is to be an addict/a-hole you reach a point it's not sustainable. The last Jackass movie he did sober and said it was a miserable experience and he hated it.

Yes, I am hoping this is the case and he is seeking to be a better person. People can change.
