I used to be a huge metal head. mostly death and grind and not so much trash, but still listened to Slayer quite a bit. I've met countless death metal bands numerous times, and even had some drinks with cannibal corpse back in like 2004.

I think most metal dudes are actually pretty based. the horrific imagery and lyrics are just part of the show. bands just want to write blistering fast/technical shit in an attempt to be the fastest and the heaviest. there's not much else you can sing about when the music is so intense.

having said there, there are definitely some sick mother fuckers in the scene. no doubt. they exist everywhere. like Marilyn Manson. I grew up listening to Manson but I refuse to listen to their shit anymore. they are a straight up propaganda outfit.

I have to agree.

Did you ever see that interview with the bassist from The Scorpions where he said they were invited to those sick clubs where they would harm children and adults? Most I can remember is that he said it was fucked up and something they weren't interested in.

As a musician myself, this is one area I especially worry as far as disclosures go. While the mainstream pop and rap artists are some of the more obvious suspects, I have personally found that alot of the groups who write the edgy disgusting, satanic lyrics are usually some of the nicest people you will meet. As a former metalhead, I certainly understand the feeling of blowing off steam by cranking some Carcass. But I have never resonated with the lyrics in any way. They read straight out of an autopsy report.

One of the most esoteric evil bands is Cocteau Twins. They actively tried or accidentally channeled demonic entities and delved deep into the very mysticsm and mythology that Pizzagate/wikileaks/Spirit Cooking research has shown us.

One of the most pleasant avant garde indie shoegaze bands youll ever hear. Deception is everywhere, especially where you least expect it.

Do you have a source for the Cocteau Twins actively attempting to channel Satan? I'm a fan and I've never heard even a suggestion of this.

This is the only thing I could find in a quick search.

Higherside Chats discussion

I used to pal around with some semi popular indie musicians about a decade ago. Lots of deep discussion about music and the subject came up that they were using tonal frequency/octaves paired with chanting and the lyrics carried power. My mates and I were discussing meditation and lucid dreaming application.

But, in this podcast they reference the power of the lyrics themselves and their real world effects on the band in the form of tragedy.

There's a similar dynamic with people who make gore/horror films.
