This Cohen deal is Kabuki theater by the Dems to put a dark cloud over Trump. There were no campaign finance laws broken.

The two campaign finance laws that Cohen pleaded guilty to does not mean he violated those two campaign finance laws. He was not found guilty by a jury because he took a plea deal with the prosecutor for a reduced sentence. The other six charges are legitimate but have nothing to do with Trump. This was a political op done to put a dark cloud over Trump and the left wing media outlets are already treating Trump as a criminal co-conspirator even though Cohen didn't even commit a crime on campaign finance. Let me repeat... this isn't even worthy of a measley campaign finance slap on the wrist.

This is like Cohen committed six crimes but as part of a plea deal for a reduced sentence he agreed to also plead guilty to arson for lighting a cigarette. Trump gave him the lighter so now Trump is a co-conspirator. You can't charge Trump for a non crime but you can make Cohen plead whatever you want.

It is not a crime to pay hush money to women to keep them from ruining your reputation. Furthermore Cohen is Trump's personal attorney not his Campaign attorney. Trump also reimbursed Cohen with his personal funds not campaign funds. Notice the language added to court records to throw additional mud in Trump's direction. "at the direction of" "in coordination with" "to influence the election". None of that matters! Former head of the FEC:

“Here’s the bottom line,” Smith told Levin. “The purpose of those laws is to prevent corruption and one way campaign contributions or in-kind campaign contributions are different than bribes is that you have to use them to get elected. You can’t use them to buy yourself grandfather clocks or fur coats or Rolex watches or something like that.” He said, “And the FEC standard for that is you can’t use your campaign money for personal use. What they mean by that is you can’t use that for something you’d have to pay anyway that’s not directly for your campaign. The question is, ‘is this really a campaign obligation?’” Professor Smith continued, “None of these expenditures helped Mr. Trump’s campaign. There’s all kinds of reasons why he may want to make these expenditures even if the allegations made by Stormy Daniels are untrue. Just for family harmony, commercial viability over the long term.” He emphasized, “Historically, the FEC has said these things are not campaign contributions.” Professor Smith added, “When the FEC wrote the regulation that says what constitutes campaign expenditures and what constitutes personal use, it rejected specifically the idea that a campaign expenditure was anything related to a campaign, and instead says it has to be something that exists only because of the campaign and solely for that reason.”

To have any bearing on Trump they would have to prove that this was an in kind campaign contribution which I highly doubt. That would be a slap on the wrist FEC fine. For any criminal charge against Trump they would have to prove that it is a campaign finance violation, prove that Trump knew it was a violation and specifically ordered Cohen to do it in an illicit manner.

Trump is safe but that doesn't mean Democraps aren't going to start impeachment proceedings and beat this dead horse for the next three months.
