They charge fares to all riders, and I'd imagine they get a very hefty inflow from state taxes. These are not large geographical areas; heavily populated, lots of people (income) per square mile. No WAY it could cost all that money to maintain.

My thoughts exactly. How many people actually see these figures? One auditor, maybe? Easy to pay off. So increase altitude; create a little box in a mental flowchart and establish that Loop is a money laundering scam. Then start looking at who's attached to it.

I was living outside Chicago up until last May. Knew a guy who was an investment capital guy. Never got the name of the company he worked for. I'll try to find him. I know he worked downtown - there are probably a hundred firms like his but I'll check.
