Breaking links or omitting https:// is encouraged to prevent server referral that could reveal anonymity.

 

But what this anon is suggesting is to leave the https:// part by surrounding them with "" in order to retain the security retained by using https://

 

But most importantly, this suggestion depends and is only relevant if the poster of the link posted a link with https:// in the first place… many times they only post http:// ('s' omitted).

TLDR

If the link doesn't contain https:// (i.e. if it only contains http://) AND the site doesn't support secure communication using https:// THEN the quoting method is useless, a YUGE waste of time.

 

Just omit or break and move on with your life.
