As far as I know it was pretty much a stalemate at the end, the US tried to annex Canada while Britain was busy fighting Napolean. At the end of the war Canada kept its independence, Brits decided retaking US by force wouldn't work because of the independent mindset and agreed a peace, US saw its victories in battle late on as keeeping its independence. Brits burning down Whitehouse was revenge for US burning down a place in Canada (Battle of York).
