The yen carry trade has been a key factor in how things work, for a number of years. Borrow yen cheap, use it on your pet project anywhere. Cut that off and a lot of people will be in a world of hurt. Might drive the yen up quickly if many worldwide have to scramble to find yen to close out their trades. Not good for Japan, but something has to give there anyway.
