A friend mentioned the movie Arrival to me in a message and I remembered the story line somewhat, but figured it had been quite some Time since watching it, so I sat for another viewing. I believe this movie was covered earlier, but I won't be talking much about the plot etc, but more about the Time component.

Spoilers

Super quick synopsis. Louise is a linguist called in to attempt to communicate with Aliens that have landed. Some odd memories happen. It turns out the memories are from the future and it helps Louise solve the crisis set in the film.

The first time I watched the flick, I figured the memories were just normal memories of the past. The big twist in the movie is that the memories are not from the past, but are of events to come. Louise is remembering stuff that is to come in Time.

There have been several Looking Glass discussions going around in the past on TL and recently in other discussions. I have always seen PLG discussions with a certain perspective. The general theory I had was if PLG tech was here, there are people that are attempting to steer society, culture and events in a new direction. Maybe something needs to be avoided, maybe something bad happens, on and on. A branch we traveled which we should avoid.

My iterations of thought revolved around someone or some group altering what is to come to a more favorable outcome. I never paused to look at the other side of the coin. The other possibility.

In Arrival Louise would have known these events had never occurred and that they were not past events (the twist was just for Movie purposes). So young Louise sees future events and they help her communicate…. great.

But what I found stunning was that she knew that that future would happen and made the choices anyways. She knew that she would marry her fellow Scientist Ian, have a child, that she would cause the destruction of that marriage, and that their daughter would die an early death. She had to move forward on that timeline.

She had to make the decision, fully knowing that it would destroy her marriage an cause massive pain to her, her daughter, and husband, to tell Ian that their daughter would die early. That telling of Ian that info would be painful and she needed to do it in order to make the timeline happen that helped her solve the problem in the past.

Deviation from making the choices she did would cause problems and potentially lead to that timeline not happening and the issue not being solved. She had to follow the painful road for the greater good.

So, if PLG tech/ability is feasible. How amazingly difficult would it be for an individual to know what will happen and know that they must still allow the bad stuff to happen in order to make it to where we need to go. Could 1 stand by and watch pain and destruction without interfering knowing that it must occur. A painful or poor choice of yours, a death of another, a disaster that could be avoided with a word.

The weight to Not Alter, would be too much for the vast majority.

Anywho, glad I watched it a 2nd time, it opened up something I had not contemplated before.

Much love All!

Mr Robot is one of my favorite series. Its stories lined up with so many stories that happened to happen at times where the stories needed to happen as I watched.

I am glad you found it and it made a mark. Those little windows into something deeper that you can almost touch and feel so familiar but not quite. PLG, maybe, but I see something larger, grander in those alignments. Chicken or the Egg? Psyop by other people or Psyop by the All. Tough to tell from the monkey suit on this tree branch.

Isn't it the damndest thing that you always seem to find the thing you were always meant to find and that finding the find makes you realize that you found something else that you meant to find? Or is it the other way around? Line upon Line… maybe just an infinitely small dot. I began with a few little windows that felt like a thing I was to find, but they seem to be everywhere.

The ending of the series is the greatest ending I have ever seen. Observer.

Got Popcorn? Cause this motion picture thingy is pretty damned good!

>you're feisty lately!

>I likey

I am… but something is walking like a duck and talking like a duck but is a pond chicken and not a duck…. er something like that.

Me thinks that >>15456 and >>15458 may be Ant (could be getting my anon voices wrong though). Ant (and some other anons) have started using 'much love' to sign off as well and it all gets a bit confuzzling at times. Badge of honor as strange would say?

Ant is all lovey-dovey in a 'Love is the key to the universe' kinda way like…

> An amazing thing happens when you truly go within and know thyself…. Your love finds you.

Although 'Embrace the Suck' is a new take from him. I like it a bit more.

Now on to my brand of Salty :)

Fresh anon comes in super hot with a left-field post in the thread intended for Movies. 1 of 2 thoughts hit my mellon. First, is this really an anon or is it someone trying to plant some extreme view posts in our boards for some longer play? The second thought is that it is just some anon coming in hot and not thinking his crap through before posting.

Either way, the logic used is beyond paper-thin and should be dismantled.

Extermination of the entire human race in order to defeat your stated 'enemy' doesn't make any sense. This concocted 'plan' would and should never work. How could you get all of Humanity to follow such a plan? There is no possible way that all 7.7 billion people across the globe would even consider this with any uniformity. The only way to carry out this plan would be to force people to follow your order/plan. If you ended up being the one with that much power that you could force the entirety of humanity to follow this plan, you would have completely missed an opportunity in which you had magically banded together the entirety of the human species to a single goal for the first time in history and directed that effort into mass suicide instead of something a bit more beneficial to the species.

Good hell! That is how you win against the scenario you have set up? Do you win by exterminating your people? I'm glad Churchill never read your book.

So, Q starts posting and you got your expectations and hopes up. When stuff didn't happen the way you wanted them to in 4 years, the solution is to end everyone and everything? That is pretty extreme buddy. 4 years in the history of humanity and you are all set to burn it all to the ground. 4 years is a fraction of a blink of an Eye. Your fear is overriding your logic.

May a recommend that you take a bit o Time and sit and read around. It's not all doom and gloom. No one knows the twists and turns in this Movie. The fabric of reality is much more intricate and spectacular than you give it credit. Walk outside, get fresh air, and breathe.

> Once again you failed to explore thought #3.

This is the most useless thing I have read in a while. How about instead of setting up this game where you put up a leading line and I give some witty response and then you give your next superior comment and we do a dance, you just get to the fucking point.

I am always happy to discuss and debate, but lately, I have very little tolerance for people pulling this superiority BS.

You wanna talk Matrix movie, lets do it. You wanna 'Matrix' in the context of the fabric of reality, sure I'm all up for it.

You wanna drop shit like I didn't think the thought you think that I should have thought and that proves that once again you think your thinking makes you smarter than my thinking…. I'll pass. Blunt and Direct time sunshine.
