This may or may not resonate with all of you, but I’m going to say it anyways.
If you have been contemplating some kind of creative or artistic your endeavor, now is the time. Quit your job, your natural nesting instinct to seek comfort above .. freedom, and just go for it. Take the fools leap of faith. The fool card has caught some unwarranted slack around here I feel. (although the reasons for this was legitimate, but the card itself is no harbinger of doom.. imo). Why?
What better way is there to spread seeds of truth to the hoi polloi that cant get their minds free from their own butt cheeks long enough to wake up and smell the roses, so to speak, than art? This isn’t even my own idea (indeed, none of our best ideas are our “own”.. Only the shitty ones lol and even those come from a far removed kernel of truth, i.e. the collective consciousness) but it is something that has been known in antiquity and is still used to great effect to this day. Take music for example: These days in the pop charts you might have a song where a man raps or sings about (something hateful/misogynistic/just plain idiotic) which would normally cause people to pause.. And THINK about what they were being told.. Yet somehow when those same words are put to music, next thing you know you have people from all walks of life grooving to the same exact message that, on its own, would have triggered those logical “defence mechanisms” of the ego (or perhaps prison walls? What is the difference between a prison and a fortress?) that refuse to let us consider certain ideas..
Just like we are incapable of simultaneously holding negative and positive emotions in our heads (or hateful/grateful, etc) we can only listen to the music OR interpret the lyrics (at a conscious level anyways) at the same time. Over time, these two elements of a song will come into UNION within a person so that the message and music is one and the same.. But when first hearing a song/looking at a piece of artwork/reading a bit of poetry/etc, we (perhaps unknown to us if we are UNAWARE) choose to use either our HEADS or our HEARTS to understand what messages we are receiving.
Get what I am saying?
I for one .. know which path I have chosen. Life imitates art. Hell, Life IS art. Like I said before, our individual lives are our own personal masterpieces, so paint it exquisitely. Even if you don’t quit your day job, and whatever “art” means to you, do that, sorry, EYE meant BE that.
Don’t do good, BE good. Don’t do the dance, Be the dance. Don’t take shit, BE the shit. Don’t do gardening, BE the garden. Don’t do creation, BE creativity. Don’t do art, BE art.
