So, the day before thanksgiving the power went out at our house. It stayed that way throughout the next day- we made it work with ice in coolers for food and candles and led lights at night. Because we didn't have screens to entertain ourselves, we played gin rummy and sang all the 90s pop tunes, broadway showtunes and old soul classics we knew. Before thanksgiving dinner, I heard the neighbors family come home, they have a boy about 6. Hoping that the lights would be on when they went inside, I heard the grandma say:
"if you say, Let there be light so it shall be!"
and the little one shouted (in that adorable pitch that only a kid can do!)
"LET THERE BE LIGHT!"
and grandma said:
and So it IS!
Omg my heart burst open and
I thought immediately of your posts! :)
Be a great tagline for a meme. (Im gonna forge some new ones here soon.)
After a ridiculous spread of goodies with family and friends, and at exactly the moment after the last dish was washed, the lights came back on! We turned them right back off and finished our game of rummy by Christmas lights :)
It was an AMAZING reminder of the humanity we have all around us all the time, our friends, housemates, family, coworkers, neighbors. I have been glued to this screen for the last year and I justify it because, well for justice and we doing super hero thangs, changing consciousness on the precipice of thought and all. But we are saving the world from the very thing that we are using to do so! ah, reflections eternal! fuqen kek.
and we must never forget what we are.
We are already beautiful machines.
We are Human and we make the world with our thoughts.
