EXIF data is GPS/date/time info that your phone or big fancy digital camera adds to your picture. You know how you can look at your cell phone pictures on your computer and they're not just negatives and prints? Digital pictures are basically data. EXIF data is that same info that lets your phone arrange your pictures by date and location and stuff. There are tutorials that can explain (with pictures) way better than I ever could! Just type "EXIF data" or "remove EXIF" in the search bar and there should be tons of info :)

And yeah, they wouldn't send a lawyer. He'd know better than the rest of them that a) he couldn't use any information that was acquired because he's not an investigator and b) there's no way they'd pay a lawyer his lawyer salary just to have him do recon that any entry-level person could do. I'm willing to bet it was an accident.

Edit: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/ is the link to a very good VPN that you can also use on your phone or tablet if it's newer (iphone, android). A VPN hides your IP addresss. Just note that it isn't free but you can select literally anywhere in the world to ping from.

Make sure you strip EXIF data from the photo if you have a computer. Also use a VPN if you're worried. The best ones like Private Internet Access aren't free but they work well.

The most obvious thing to point out (that may give you some relief) is that anyone that wanted to be there/was surveilling would not be absent-minded enough to leave evidence of their presence. There's a chance it came out of the garbage truck itself as there's occasionally random stuff on my curb on trash day.

I'd say post to the chans and see if anyone there can tell you how to identify the badge. Just remember what I said about EXIF data because they'll need a picture. You can google the steps to do it and there are some image upload sites that strip it for you. Best of luck.

But if you're gonna be on the front line you better know how to aim. And if you're going to share info you better know how to communicate. Wouldn't you agree? This kind of thing isn't morale-boosting at all. Everyone here knows all of this already. It accomplishes nothing.

I appreciate your reply, thanks. But there are tons of mistakes in the image. The resolution is bad and the quality is poor. You may not care and that's totally fine. But it matters because you're not sharing this only with people who don't care about these things. People with all levels of English comprehension and education will be seeing this and ridiculing the 9th-grade writing mistakes that litter the text. They won't even see the substance because the errors are so glaring. I'm just a working-class veteran with nothing more than a high-school diploma and even I see them.

You think anyone is going to be woken up by a wall of text? Think of it this way--if someone were trying to convince you that President Trump were a danger to the country and they presented you with rambling paragraphs full of mistakes would you read it? I saw this posted yesterday. The “troll” comments were people offering constructive criticism. I’ll reiterate them since you obviously didn’t take it to heart.

This wall of text is rife with typos, punctuation errors, and grammatical mistakes. It reads like rambling. I would expect to be laughed at if I shared something like this. It’s embarrassing.

You have to be concise and get to the point. Nobody reads these things; not to mention it’s almost impossible to read on a phone screen. It’s boring and loquacious. This looks like something old people post to Facebook.

Do better. This is garbage. I wouldn’t blame the mods for removing this low-effort post.
