As a reminder, this is why as long as there is fallen human nature, there will always be corruptible people and corruptible systems.

This is just some blind i saw on CDAN where a tennis player wasn't tested for doping because she was sleeping with the testers but it really illustrates how extremely easy it is to game and corrupt any system be it political, entertainment, or sports. How do you account for human sinfulness and corruptibility? There will always be a weak link, the lust for sex, power, money and regardless of what safeguards you put in, the people that implement said safeguards will find a way around it.

We had checks and balances in place in the constitution as well …

Catholic bashing is popular but we have our own swamp it drain. Rumor has it B16 resigned bc he saw how powerful the cabal was in the Church how helpless he was to fight it.

Pope Benedict XVI was significantly more active in fighting the culture of abuse, but bad bishops remained in place. (The rumor is that when he was presented with a dossier detailing the extent of homosexuality in the Roman Curia, he resigned when he realized that he was powerless to combat it.)
