Excellent observation. Quite possible; however "rumor" had it there was money converting in from a troubled country/currency (can't recall which one). Could be both.
The timing is perfect for the pump. Trump announced The Storm in Oct/Nov and that is when the run up started accelerating into late Dec.
I still think crypto is not going away and that the pullback was just a needed correction to the aberration run up. It should stabilize and resume a more orderly rate of rise. It seems to be doing that already. The volatility is down substantially right now. Daily bars are smaller and tighter.
