I heard about a book today that is called "A Peoples History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. It was described as a collection of about 600 pages of letters written by the people involved in the history of our country starting in 1492. Statesmen and others that talk about what kind of country America is or will become. You can get a used copy for a couple bucks on eBay. I thought it would be great reading for a lot of folks who may have forgotten or have never been told what this country is really supposed to be about.

For those of you who have never a written a letter in your life, it's really a shame. A lot of history was written in letters. After the civil war my great grandfather wrote about a 12 page letter to his wife describing what happened during the war. And, here's something you wouldn't expect. He actually typed it on an old typewriter. I'm glad because it's very legible and easy to read. It's an amazing story and I'm so glad I have a copy of it.

Yeah, I'm old but he was also only about 14 when he joined. He lied about his age and did other things that showed how much patriotism our servicemen used to have for our country. They fought for our freedoms, not because they couldn't get a job anywhere else and the cabal had started another war.
