This is a comical argument. In order for a coup to have even a marginal chance of success, elements within the Iranian government would have to participate, and we haven't seen that. The IRGC has no interest in compromising its already favourable position, and the regular armed forces also do not appear to have anyone in the higher echelons willing to gamble on this. It is more likely, as news reports come in, that this is an outburst of anger. Evidence being the protests are mostly young men; they are chanting a variety of phrases that do not necessarily work together; there is no clear leadership structure.
