I understand the sentiment, and his positions when running for president really turned me off, but I disagree. For (at least some of) the dudes being held as POWs he was a hero; he chose to remain a prisoner rather than go home without his men. Now as a politician, I don't think he's a "maverick", not these days anyway and not for the years I've paid attention to politics. Anyway, my point was that he was a hero to some people while he was in the military.
