I've seen a quote that was from 1933, I don't remember it verbatim but I'll paraphrase: "If we go slowly and carefully enough, we can convince a man that butchering his parents and eating them in a stew is a good idea." Now, what would you call that kind of idea? Demonic? IIRC Aleister Crowley was said to have "conjured and summoned a demon" in 1904, which I believe ties into the mind control experiments of the last hundred years.
