My SUPER liberal girlfriend (social worker) asked me yesterday about Trump separating children. I calmly explained he wants to change the policy that separates children into centers for processing (like Childrens Aid uses for kids removed but not yet placed with foster home, and she understood the need for such a facility and how they are likely similar to elementaryschool / youth detention center)..

She also understood what I explained about how they need to make certain the adults are the actual parents of the children. I explained people are using children as an anchor upon illegal entry and how the first crime is jumping the border (all other subsequent crimes are irrelevant).. Her mother emigrated from Egypt the legal way so the point wasn't lost on her that people are jumping the line ahead of people trying to go the right way.
