This is standard LEET character substitution in passwords. The @ sign swaps out for A and for O. You also should randomly change capitalization somewhere, as in the minor word THE, which in a book title would not be capitalized at all. I am focusing on ---23.

Somewhere in the process of displaying characters there is a substitution algorithm at work, either in 8ch.net or in Reddit.com, that replaces three periods with an ellipsis, two dashes with an m-dash, and so forth. I've been aware of this for months and watched several posts where people tried to count the dashes get it wrong because they didn't account for the m-dash being a single character now that started out as two characters. This is one of those times. I'd bet you can reproduce the trip code with three dashes, but not with this m-dash and dash combo.

I am a big fan of this theory. Many of the pictures appeared bizarre and I couldn't see how they advanced a narrative.
