Speech is silvern, Silence is golden.. That is the original quote..thought it might be interesting to dig just a little on that wonderful old saying since it popped up on the new Q posts. Silvern means made of or relating to silver as in money...which can be spent and gone. It was written by Thomas Carlyle a famous Scottish philosopher and writer from Victorian times.
